Applications are now officially open for the VITIS program for the 2025/2026 campaign. The application period ends on January 31.

Applications are now officially open for the VITIS program (Support Scheme for Vineyard Restructuring and Conversion) for the 2025/2026 campaign. This program aims to promote the modernization and sustainability of the national wine sector by encouraging vineyard restructuring and conversion. This year, the substantial increase in support is noteworthy, now amounting to around €20,000 per hectare. Applications can be submitted until January 31.

#### Who can apply?
This support is intended for wine producers who wish to restructure or convert their vineyards in accordance with the criteria established by the applicable legislation.

#### What types of support are available?
Support can include vineyard conversion, relocation of vineyards, or improvements in viticultural practices to promote sustainability.

#### Financial Allocation

- Organic Vineyard Restructuring and Conversion: €5 million (including €2.5 million allocated to parishes affected by wildfires in 2024).
- Vineyard Restructuring and Conversion: €55 million (with €20 million reserved for the same parishes).

#### Priority for Areas Affected by Wildfires

Tremor was one of the most sustainable festivals of 2023 - a distinction made by the AGF.

IQ-Mag has published an article about the 2023 music festivals to be honoured by the AGF as the most sustainable of the year. Read the article [here](https://www.iq-mag.net/).

The AGF (A Greener Future) Greener Festival Certification is the first global sustainability standard for live events, focussing on festivals that reduce waste, emissions and promote equality and biodiversity. In addition to Tremor, festivals such as We Love Green, Boom, Boomtown Fair, Dockyard, Northside and OyaFestivalen have also obtained certification for 2023. This involves a detailed assessment based on 11 themes, such as local ecosystems, travel, food, energy, waste and governance, including self-assessment, site visits and presentation of post-event data for an independent audit by AGF.

The call for applications for Creative Europe support opened on December 11. The call closes on May 13th.

The call for proposals for European Cooperation Projects, the Creative Europe program that co-finances projects in the cultural and creative sector, opened today, December 11, and will remain open until May 13 of next year.

### Information about the program

Projects must be designed and implemented by a consortium made up of at least three entities from three participating countries ([see list here](https://www.europacriativa.eu/recursos/paises-participantes)) and have a maximum duration of 4 years. 

#### Project size

This time, the call for proposals is open for all three scales:
- **Small** (at least three organizations from three different countries; up to €200,000 per project / 80% co-financing); 

- **Medium** (from five organizations from five different countries; up to 1 million euros per project / 70% co-financing);

- **Large** (at least 10 organizations from ten different countries; up to 2 million euros per project / 60% co-financing).

#### Priorities

It has also been defined that the projects must respond to the 'global' priorities defined by the European Commission, namely environmental sustainability, inclusion and gender equality, digital transition and international relations - a difference from the previous system which indicated specific priorities in each call.

#### European objectives

Projects must choose to contribute to one of two objectives: **transnational creation and circulation** - which seeks to _strengthen the transnational creation and circulation of European works and artists_; or **innovation** - if the aim of the project is to _increase the capacity of the European cultural and creative sectors to nurture talent, innovate, prosper and generate jobs and growth._

#### Who can apply?

This competition is open to public and private legal entities, whether profit-making or not; and individual entrepreneurs who are active in the cultural and creative sector and have their legal headquarters in one of the 40 countries participating in the program.

The first edition of the event that promotes the intersection of disciplines with the ceramic figurines of Barcelos.

In 2022, Couto-Mixto teamed up with local cultural agents to promote an event that started from its headquarters, the Barlos Shopping Centre, and extended to adjacent areas in the city of Barcelos. Barlos, which takes its title from the place where it is located, establishes a bridge between Barcelos crafts and contemporary artistic languages. This initiative is organised by agents who understand artistic and cultural production as defining collective identity, and who see it as a tool for integrating and enhancing communities. 

This first edition took place over a whole day in September 2022, between the Barlos Shopping Centre, Rua Dom António Barroso (Rua Direita de Barcelos) and Largo Dr. José Novais. It inaugurated co-operation movements between: the ‘o Galo’ Craftsmen's Association and Tasco Tableware (a project that brought together the handmade ceramics of Viana do Alentejo and contemporary design and illustration); the Cávado do Ave Polytechnic Institute and Barcelonian cultural agents; some contemporary artists and António Ramalho, great-grandson of the artist Rosa Ramalho, whose work served as inspiration for an exhibition with these creators. The event made it possible to achieve the project's objectives in an exceptional way, and was unanimously considered a success by the organisation, artists and audience, not only in terms of programming, but above all because of the possibilities and cross-overs that emerged from it. 

Barlos 2022 was organised in collaboration with A Macho Alfa - Associação Cultural; Lovers & Lollypops; and Zoom - Associação Cultural.

EDGE Network's first training session opened a window into an approach that combines sustainability with culture.

The multidisciplinary artists Pura Márquez, Nestor Torrens and Simone Marin, organisers of the Keroxen Festival, presented ‘Recycling, sustainability and integrating agriculture as art: reimagining a cultural festival’, a workshop that explored the Keroxen universe, showing how this project has managed to combine environmental concerns with different cultural movements, becoming an agent of change that, with music as its link, aims to inspire experimentation with styles and coexistence between artists.

Likewise, it was explained how Keroxen mixes visual art with the environment that surrounds us, giving importance to the blending of concepts and creating a perfect setting to develop the ideas of this project that was born in an old abandoned paraffin tank, now known as Espacio Cultural El Tanque, in the centre of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, in the Canary Islands. Today, Keroxen continues its creative process with the creation of the Parque Agrotecnológico de Bajamar, an edible forest, and the construction of a greenhouse as one of Keroxen's many sound and art venues to come. 

This event marked the first moment of the EDGE Network training cycle, the planning and execution of which was overseen by Couto-Mixto.

EDGE Workshop - Recycling, sustainability and integrating agriculture as art: reimagining a cultural festival

The creators gathered with friends and family to celebrate the launch of the new wine brand.

TAU! is a locally produced, small-scale vinho verde in which the vines and grapes have been carefully selected and handled. The launch edition is the result of the 2021 harvest and features grapes from the Alvarinho, Loureiro and Trajadura varieties, designed and produced in partnership with Filipe Lemos.

The launch event for this white vinho verde took place in Barcelos, at Quinta da Pegadinha, where Filipe Lemos is the winemaker and from where the Loureiro blend was harvested, one of the two blends that make up TAU! 2021. The other batch, of the Alvarinho and Trajadura grape varieties, comes from a local producer whose vineyard had been designed by Couto-Mixto. Present at the event were all those who have contributed to the project, be it through the technical, creative and artistic conception of the project, the harvest and bottling. There were also family members of the TAU! team, whose support for its realisation was fundamental. So this event served not only as a launch for the project but also, and above all, as a gesture of thanks to everyone involved.

The artistic team was present and took part in the creative conception of the whole event, as well as the photographic and video recording. The artist responsible for the graphic and aesthetic design of the bottle, Hugo Oliveira, was involved in each of the wine boxes offered, personalising them for each of those present.

The second edition of Barlos saw the festival expand into new artistic areas and more ambitious initiatives.

For the second year of the festival, Couto-Mixto has re-established its alliance with local cultural agents to promote culture in the city of Barcelos. Barlos aims to promote interaction between local crafts and contemporary artistic languages. This time a more comprehensive programme has been presented, with music, creative residencies, exhibitions, talks, workshops, performances, themed meals, a walk and a fair.

Among the highlights of this edition were a concert by local band Glockenwise, the debut of French band Société Etrange and the traditional musical incursions of the Soalhas. The clubbing section was represented by DJs King Kami and Patrícia Brito. The three creative residencies involved the Banda Plástica de Barcelos, the Orfeão de Barcelos Choir, potter João Lourenço, artists Catarina Bessa Lucas and Joana Patrão, as well as the duo Inês Tartaruga Água and Xavier Paes. As part of the workshops, there were two unique opportunities to interact with local ceramics masters, António Ramalho and Prazeres Côta, covering techniques for producing and painting figurines. A workshop on playing and singing the adufe, led by the Soalhas collective, was also offered to younger audiences. Two exhibitions were also presented: one resulting from the Workshop in Pottery and Ceramics Design (WOC); and a group show curated by Maria Miguel von Hafe, which looked at the overlap between utilitarian ceramics and contemporary art. Once again, the Barlos Shopping Centre served as the focal point, with activities extending throughout the historic centre of Barcelos.

Barlos 2023 was promoted in collaboration with A Macho Alfa - Associação Cultural and Lovers & Lollypops; it had the following partners: Artworks, Casa do Xisto, RUN-EU, IPCA - Escola Superior de Design, Zoom - Associação Cultural and RUM - Rádio Universitária do Minho; and the patron Alec.Group. The project was made possible with the support of the Portuguese National Republic, the Portuguese Arts Council (DGArtes) and the Municipality of Barcelos.

A group of friends rolled up their sleeves to harvest the wine co-signed by Couto-Mixto.

O TAU! 2022 marca a segunda edição deste vinho inconformado. O projeto continua a refletir os princípios com que foi concebido, mantendo a produção em pequena escala, com um compromisso social e ambiental responsável. Defying convention, TAU! is not produced from grapes harvested prematurely and is not bottled at the start of its cellar ageing, as is usual with vinho verde. On the contrary, careful viticulture allows for the harvesting of ripe grapes and longer cellar ageing, resulting in a distinctive wine. Once again, the artistic element will be integrated into its design, distinguishing TAU! in the context of vinhos verdes.

The 2022 harvest, carried out in a century-old old vineyard in the Barcelos region, with Arinto grapes, was produced in a certified _[Integrated Production](https://www.dgadr.gov.pt/producao-integrada)_ system - an agricultural system for producing high-quality food and other food products, with rational management of natural resources and favouring the use of natural regulation mechanisms instead of production factors, thus contributing to sustainable agriculture.

The harvest was an initiative that involved the community: bringing together a group of friends who live in Barcelos and some people who were doing Erasmus in the municipality.

TAU! 2022 Harvest

The wine tasting activity was part of the annual Touring Barcelos programme, promoted by the Municipality of Barcelos

Another edition of the Wine and Vines Route took place on 9 March, with a visit to the TAU! facilities.

The TAU! team welcomed more than 60 people to their facilities to learn about the project and enjoy a wine tasting. Together with the first two editions of TAU!, the newest release not yet commercialised - a Tinta Roriz - was also distributed. This is a very unusual grape variety in the Vinho Verde region and, because it is not typical of the Barcelos region, it cannot be classified as having a ‘Denomination of Origin’. A production that demonstrates the innovative character that runs through the essence of TAU!, which continues to invest in the sustainable development of wines that are not grown and produced according to traditional canons. The three wines were a hit with the public, who emphasised the exceptional nature of the Tinta Roriz wine. 

This activity was part of the annual Touring Barcelos programme and was included in the Gastronomic Week. The initiative, which took place during the month of March, involved the participation of several restaurants of the city.

TAU! was one of the official drinks at the first edition of Clube de Rua - an event that crossed the portuguese city of Esposende almost from end to end.

On Saturday 6th July, Rua da Srª da Saúde in Esposende was activated with a variety of artistic interventions and activities that livened up the street.

The first edition of Clube de Rua was born out of the desire to celebrate the city's streets with its people, neighbours and stories. This first edition featured a programme packed with music, exhibitions, workshops and an art market. It took place between 10am and midnight on the first Saturday of July.

This event, organised by NICE Esposende and Cardume, with co-production by the Municipality of Esposende, featured A Kombucha and TAU! as the official drinks.

Senhora Presidenta hosted the official launch of the new TAU! wine with the special collaboration of Rita Laranja

The official launch of the latest edition of TAU! took place on the 24th of May at Senhora Presidenta, in Porto. The launch was accompanied by an exhibition by Rita Laranja - an artist who collaborated on the most recent edition of TAU! - with an artwork that seeks to bring the construction of this label's image into the gallery space.

This second TAU! once again originates, as is the brand's signature, from small-scale production and great care. Vinified in 2022 with grapes from old vines of the Arinto variety, the wine underwent an 11-month ageing process in stainless steel vats and in used French oak barrels on fine lees. 

With each new edition of this Barcelos' wine, a different artist is responsible for creating the TAU! image. This time, we invited artist and designer Rita Laranja, who was inspired by the characteristic colours of Minho's landscape to create the image for the label. She used linocut, a manual printing technique, to create an image that evokes the region in the north of the country where the wine was produced. It is precisely this composition that came to life in Senhora Presidenta's exhibition space, where it was possible to learn about the process of developing the label that presents the new TAU wine!

Rita Laranja is a multidisciplinary designer based in Porto. She fluctuates between working in digital and physical media, trying to break down the barriers between the two. Fascinated by various types of manual printing techniques, most of her personal work materialises in relief prints created through the long process of linocutting or woodcutting.

The latest edition of TAU! was the wine chosen to be served at the opening of the exhibition Canhoto _As_ Zordo, which opened on May 22 at Kindred Spirit in Lisbon. 

Canhoto _As_ Zordo showed works by artists Nuno Sousa Vieira and Tamara Arroyo, and wass curated by Virginia Torrente and Sérgio Fazenda Rodrigues.

Barcelos hosted the third edition of Barlos, a festival that fosters new dialogues between local craftsmanship and contemporary art.

The third edition of Barlos took place on September 28th, once again transforming Barcelos into the vibrant setting for an event that aims to establish fresh dialogues between local crafts and contemporary artistic expressions.

On the musical side, concerts by Maria Reis and xauxaudodô filled Largo Dr. Martins de Lima with captivating sounds, while Barlos FM radio—a series of programs selected through an open call—resonated through Barlos shopping center's corridors. In the realm of visual arts, an exhibition by Juliana Julieta, curated by Paula Pinto, was creatively spread across Barlos' shop windows and the former Espaço Cultura concert hall.

In addition to these artistic showcases, the festival invited the public to participate in workshops led by local potters, allowing them to engage directly with traditional craftsmanship. These efforts were part of a broader mission to strengthen and modernize the ties between history, place, and community - one that will undoubtedly continue to evolve in the years to come.

A circuit of small music venues between the North of Portugal and the northern Spanish region of Galicia.

AllVenues is an online network for venues and agents that formalises a circuit of small music venues between the north of Portugal and Galicia. The platform constitutes a specialised medium for sharing programming opportunities and promoting events. Designed in 2019, AllVenues represents added value for a sector that is extremely fragile. This intangible network of venues, agents, musicians and audiences aims to strengthen the synergies between structures in different cities in the cross-border region, with the aim of demonstrating the proximity and connection between these two contexts.

Couto-Mixto applied to the European Commission's Creative Europe programme EAC/S17/2019, Music Moves Europe. The success of the application allowed it to be realised between 2021 and 2022, by a consortium coordinated by A Macho Alfa - Associação Cultural, and partners Maus Hábitos and the Spanish group La Melona.

**Tremor**

Centred on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, Tremor is a festival that explores the relationship between music and territory. Taking advantage of the vast natural and human heritage of the archipelago, the event has a multi-local format, occupying concert halls, shops and other unusual spaces. In addition to the _indoor_ concerts, the festival also includes the activities Tremor Todo-o-Terreno (sound walks) and Tremor na Estufa (surprise concerts), as well as developing new ideas for experimentation with the Azorean community, such as dinners in the homes of inhabitants of the parish of Rabo de Peixe. **Keroxen**

The Keroxen festival has been held annually since 2009 at the "El Tanque Espacio Cultural" exhibition centre (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain). For 14 years it has brought together local, national and international artists, promoting cultural exchange and breaking down the barriers between the various artistic disciplines that form part of its cultural programme: music, video mapping, performances, visual arts, dance, poetry and new technologies. EDGE was an innovative project designed to compete for the European Commission's Small Scale Cooperation Projects (CREA-CULT-2022-COOP-1) programme.

EDGE is a network of music festivals located in the outermost regions of the European Union, funded by the European Commission's Small Scale Cooperation Projects (CREA-CULT COOP) programme. As this project involves partners from Europe's peripheral regions (the Tremor Festival in the Azores, the Keroxen Festival in the Canary Islands and the Fengaros Festival in Cyprus), where artists and audiences have greater difficulty in circulating and exporting, the EDGE project set out to create a co-creation circuit between artists from these regions with a residency programme hosted by the three partners. In close collaboration with the client, Couto-Mixto carried out the application for the European funding programme, as well as managing the project. In addition, Couto-Mixto, in partnership with AGF, also ensured the **[environmental consultancy](https://couto-mixto.com/projects/consultoria-ambiental-EDGE)** process for the three festivals in the network.

EDGE - A network of ultraperipheral festivals

In partnership with AGF, Couto-Mixto is responsible for assessing the environmental impacts of the festivals that are part of the European project.

Couto-Mixto, in collaboration with UK's A Greener Future, advised EDGE - Network of Ultra-Peripheral Music Festivals on assessing, improving and certifying the good environmental practices adopted by its three member festivals. In the context of this collaboration, a manual of good practices was developed and can now be followed not only by the members of the network, but also by other events and promoters operating in territories similar to those impacted by Fengaros, Keroxen and Tremor. The environmental variables assessed are: impact on local environments; impact on the local community; travel and transport; energy; procurement; solid waste and recycling; water use; wastewater and sewage; CO2 analysis; carbon footprint; biodiversity assessment.
