The art and craft of pottery is one of the most distinctive features of Barcelos' cultural identity. Representatively summarised in the figure of the rooster - its trademark - Barcelos' figural pottery is one of the most unique craft products in the country, both in Portugal and abroad. At a time when its preservation and continuity are facing the challenging ageing of its craftsmen, Barlos has emerged as a transdisciplinary festival that aims to create new spaces for dialogue between the practice of ceramics and other contemporary artistic languages and expressions. It has been taking place in Barcelos since 2022, with workshops, concerts, talks, artist residencies, exhibitions and creative performances. Couto-Mixto is a partner of the project, having collaborated in the organization and production of the festival since its first edition.
