EDGE is a network of music festivals located in the outermost regions of the European Union, funded by the European Commission's Small Scale Cooperation Projects (CREA-CULT COOP) programme. As this project involves partners from Europe's peripheral regions (the Tremor Festival in the Azores, the Keroxen Festival in the Canary Islands and the Fengaros Festival in Cyprus), where artists and audiences have greater difficulty in circulating and exporting, the EDGE project set out to create a co-creation circuit between artists from these regions with a residency programme hosted by the three partners. In close collaboration with the client, Couto-Mixto carried out the application for the European funding programme, as well as managing the project. In addition, Couto-Mixto, in partnership with AGF, also ensured the environmental consultancy process for the three festivals in the network.
Fengaros
Fengaros Festival is known for combining great music with the stunning setting of a traditional Cypriot village, where festival-goers can explore and camp under the stars of the summer night sky, creating the ultimate festival atmosphere, unlike anything else on the island. Fengaros spearheaded the creation of a three-day music festival in a picturesque Mediterranean village that is annually transformed into a holistic festival experience, where visitors can wander the village's winding roads, discover new music, meet new people and experience the festival in all its glory. Tremor
Centred on the island of São Miguel in the Azores, Tremor is a festival that explores the relationship between music and territory. Taking advantage of the vast natural and human heritage of the archipelago, the event has a multi-local format, occupying concert halls, shops and other unusual spaces. In addition to the indoor concerts, the festival also includes the activities Tremor Todo-o-Terreno (sound walks) and Tremor na Estufa (surprise concerts), as well as developing new ideas for experimentation with the Azorean community, such as dinners in the homes of inhabitants of the parish of Rabo de Peixe. Keroxen
The Keroxen festival has been held annually since 2009 at the "El Tanque Espacio Cultural" exhibition centre (Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain). For 14 years it has brought together local, national and international artists, promoting cultural exchange and breaking down the barriers between the various artistic disciplines that form part of its cultural programme: music, video mapping, performances, visual arts, dance, poetry and new technologies. Keroxen is an art installation in itself, where all these activities coexist and where the public can experience art as a living entity. Visit the website
